Q. Do I need experience or some minimum level of fitness?
A. No. Our workouts and exercises scale to any level of fitness or ability. We train the young and the young at heart and every range of fitness level from professional athletes to the obese. We assure you that you will be just fine.
Q. How do I start?
A. Sign up for a class! It is a great way to find out if CrossFit is for you. We go over CrossFit Methodology, how our gym works, your goals and current fitness level and end with a basic CrossFit workout scaled to your ability.
Q. I am traveling and already a member of an affiliate; I’m dying for a WOD… can I drop in?
A. YES! If you are a current member of an affiliate, our drop in rate is $20. If you are an affiliate owner, there is no charge. Please arrive a little early to sign our waivers.
Q.Why does Crossfit Cost so much?
A. Well, think about what you are getting. With small classes and CrossFit certified trainers, you are getting one on one ATTENTION. We emphasize ATTENTION because at Our Gym you are following an instructor in a class as opposed to being coached. Personal Training can easily run $40 to hundreds of dollars for a one hour session, so when compared to this, it is actually extremely affordable. Aside from the coaching you also get a community that stretches far beyond our gym. We help you set goals for yourself, teach you how to track them and how to reach them. We will assist you on you nutrition and if we see you not showing up, we call, because we care. Since you can cancel at anytime, you don’t have to feel like you will be stuck not getting your money’s worth. We are confident that if you are a motivated individual looking for elite fitness we will continue to see you month after month.
Q. Can I get hurt doing CrossFit?
A. All workouts are scaled for everyone when they begin Crossfit. We start with the basics and then move into the lifts focusing on form and technique. You will need to be able to perform the movements with proper form before we add weight or increase intensity. There will be a certified trainer teaching every class to ensure that your form is correct before moving forward. Every precaution is taken to prevent injury and although we stress the importance of intensity in our workouts, form is more important.
Q. Is Crossfit hard?
A. It is as hard as you want it to be. We want you to want it to be hard. If it were easy, you wouldn’t get hooked, because it wouldn’t get you where you want to be. Depending on your definition of hard, we would have to say yes, because you will be pushing yourself. The nice part is that the workouts are short and you will have the rest of the day to brag to all of your friends about the savage workout that you did :). In my opinion, HARD is looking in the mirror and not liking what you see. HARD is making time to go to the gym everyday but still not seeing results. HARD is feeling like you will never be the powerful person you want to be. I guess if you look at it this way, Crossfit is the easy answer.
Q. What if I’m not an Athlete? What if I’m not in shape?
A. That’s ok. In fact, it usually works to your advantage because you don’t have an inflated opinion of your own sense of “shape”. If you think you are out of shape, you probably are. Most people are. It’s ok. That’s why we are here. To get you in shape. Come in with an open mind and a willingness to work hard, and we can work it out. We just start you where you are today – and get you where you need to go. We work with athletes of ALL FITNESS LEVELS which includes people who are really, really BEGINNER!
Q. I’m intimidated and scared! It sounds so Intense!
A. Relax. We understand that as a novice you can easily be overwhelmed by all of the new stimuli and intense activity CrossFit presents. We also ensure you get extra coaching attention during your first few weeks so that you can grow confident and comfortable in your new environment before being exposed to some of the more advanced movements. You will learn quickly that no one else in your class is looking at you – they are all too busy trying to get through their own workouts anyway! You will also see how positive and encouraging our members are and we are confident that after a few classes you will start to relax and feel at home in your group!
